ABSTRACT
The demographic data in E. histolytica infection were studied to propose some preventive measures to lower the incidence of infection. For that purpose; 100 patients presenting with acute diarrhea attending Kafr Daoud rural health center [Monofia-Egypt] were classified according to the presence of the amebic fecal GIAP antigen into two groups: 46[1 a] with positive GIAP and 54[1 b] with negative GIAP antigen, 182 individual living at the same circumstances were taken as control group. We found that the diarrhea in general [amoebic or nonamoebic] more prevalent in big families, using common tap and latrines, living in earth floor house, and monthly income <250 Egyptian pound. The amoebic diarrhea more prevalent in first decades of life, male genders and farmers [P<.05].
